Guernica

In the school at the Art class we learned a lot about the history and how the painted has changed since the beginnings of the times, always like a necessary instrument to know ourselves. For that reason, the Art change with the centuries, the last 2 centuries has been full of disasters and the introduction of new and advanced technologies... Cubism and the Picasso's Guernica isn´t only a creative and new form, is also like a desperate scream of help. I choose this paint because I want people appreciate the art not like something nice or beauty. The art is like a special and perfect way to show how the history has changed and how this affects to all of us. And how we can understand better others through the art even if we didn´t live the same things.

Guernica was paint by Picasso (a Spanish artist) in 1937 while he was in France, and it is a symbolic paint of the Spanish Civil War, specific the unnecessary air attack against a lot of innocent people. The paint isn´t a “photograph” of the people dying or the bombs in the sky, it´s a lot of images and symbols as the screaming horse trying to keep stand up, the eye with lighting to the floor, the insecure women with the candle, the non-visible pigeon as the symbol of hopeless… And more.

Now this paint is in the museum “Reina Sofía”, but the replicate and a lot of draws are all over the world (even in the “Liceo 7”), and Picasso paints are show in a lot of countries include Chile.

I believe Maria José and Antonia could like the paint (especially Antonia who likes to suffer jaja), but maybe all of my classmates agree it too, because is and historical paint.

You're right, I really like this painting, it has a deep sense, and the meaning that art could take, i mean, how we can interpret a painting it's the best part for me

  3. I'm not a big fan of Picasso, but certainly i kinda like his work, this one in particular is really symbolic, the spanish civil war was really horrible, cruel, at least.
